Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan Yasmine Paige has a passion for the city she’s lived in all her life and the women in it. Saturday, October 6th 2018 she hosted her very first, “Prayer In The City” event at Tribute Detroit. “Prayer changes things,” stated Paige in a recent interview with me. Let’s dive into this conversation to find out why she hosted PITC, its impact, and discover more about her belief on prayer.

1. What made you want to organize, “Prayer In The City?” God and the women/girls in my life made me want to organize “Prayer In The City”. God had been telling me to do it for some time, fear was keeping me from moving. It wasn’t until I saw how much we (girls & the city) needed it that I started planning it. We have so many other events in the city of Detroit, networking events, fashion events, natural hair events, but not a lot or enough like “Prayer In The City.” 2. Explain the purpose behind this event? The purpose behind this event was to help grow the girls prayer lives. To go even deeper the purpose was to reignite/ignite their desire for a relationship with God. 3. About how long did the planning process take? Planning Prayer In The City took almost two months. God gave me the venue, the prayer exercises & my word so it wasn’t a very difficult process. Our menu was probably the most difficult thing. We had French toast, mini sausage biscuit sandwiches, shrimp & grits, banana nut bread loaf, & fruit. 4. How many women were in attendance? There were 30 women in attendance at Prayer In The City, I wanted to keep it as intimate as possible, and make sure everyone was comfortable. 5. What was your favorite part about the day? Why? My favorite part about the day was seeing the girls pray for each other. You could tell how they were all getting what they needed out of it, whether it was a release or just some one on one time with God. 6. Why is prayer important to you? Prayer is important to me because I know it keeps me close to God and it changes things. An outcome that I don’t want to happen, or an outcome that I do want to happen. Simply just talking to God through prayer is pivotal in my relationship with Him.

7. Has it always been an essential part of your life? Yes, at my church (that I’ve been going to basically all of my life) prayer and faith is key to have an authentic relationship with God. Some of the exercises I did at the event, we do all the time at my church. My mom also taught me that prayer “changes things” this has stuck with me all my life. 8. What advice would you give someone who wants to strengthen their prayer life? I would tell them to keep pushing, their relationship with God should be the most important thing in our lives & God wants to have a relationship with each & every one of us. Start off with just talking to him on a daily basis, no ones prayer life is perfect. 9. In one of your recent Instagram posts, you mentioned how you were “still trying to put ‘Prayer In The City’ into words...” has the outcome of the event sank in yet? How would you describe it? I don’t think it has. Everything I wanted Prayer In The City to be, God made it come to past. I cried planning the event, during the event & after the event was over. I felt like people’s lives were being changed & their desire for God was growing & that’s really all I wanted for PITC. 10. Do you plan on having another event similar to this in the near future? I plan on doing this event every 3-4 months. People were messaging me when the event sold out to have another one or put more seats at this one. I’m thinking they can all have different themes like Prayer In The Garden, Prayer In The Park, etc. I eventually want to travel to different cities & have these events. 11. Who/what motivates you? I would say, God’s purpose for my life motivates me. The fact that I know He has specific things that I’m supposed to be doing, makes me want to know what those things are & then execute them. My husband also motivates me. Him believing me & telling me I can do something pushes me to be great. Women/girls motivate me, I love to see women come to together and love on each other. It’s such a powerful thing! 12. Which women's story in the Bible resonates with you most? Explain. I feel like the story of the lady with the issue of blood resonates with me the most. Her faith had gotten so strong during the time of her being sick. She didn’t give up on God or get discouraged. I always pray for faith as strong as hers so that no matter what I’m going through I know He’s working it out for my good.

Let’s really start trusting in God more together!
